My iWrite brief will be focussing on whether or not piracy hurts the gaming industry - my argument is that while it may appear to be hurting the industry, it is not physically KILLING the industry.
In this brief I will be analysing blogs that portray both points of view (for and against) but primarily focussing on sites that are on the side that it does in fact hurt the industry in some form.
As I am not really one to make blog posts on a regular basis, this blog will likely consist of a single large post nearing the deadline of the brief.
Blogs I will be looking into and analysing:
"Is Piracy Killing the PC Gaming Industry?" - http://www.blogohblog.com/is-piracy-killing-the-pc-gaming-industry/
DRM hurts companies more than piracy, developer argues - http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2013/03/19/drm-hurts-companies-more-than-piracy-developer-argues/

Video game piracy: Is it good for business? - http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gaming.gadgets/09/09/video.game.piracy/index.html?_s=PM:TECH
Video game piracy is not entirely evil - http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/ahmadmetallic/blog/video-game-piracy-is-not-entirely-evil/89295/
I'm not sure this is really valid Glen: "my argument is that while it may appear to be hurting the industry, it is not physically KILLING the industry" as it's obviously not, as the industry still exists.
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn, Nick from class on the 14th of may, great stuff man but wheres the rest, theres only three small paragraphs would love to see more and find out where your heading with this very cool topic ,Thanks man
ReplyDeleteKindest Regards Nick :)
Yeah I agree with Nick, I would like to see more!
ReplyDeleteAlso, as Esther said, the 'physically KILLING the gaming industry' is a bit of an impossible feat! As the gaming industry isn't actually a physical thing, nor living for that matter...
But anyway, I did enjoy what you have down and look forward to your final post which I hope will be up soon.
Cheers,
Gina
